WHAT IS ATSG?Automatic Transmission Service Group (ATSG) is a technical service advisory and membership organization. Membership dues are to be maintained for the member to remain in good standing. With respect to transmission maintenance and repair, it provides technical bulletins, a telephone hotline to answer questions from member transmission shops, and training seminars. ATSG bulletins and advice are advisory only, and adherence to them and their use is entirely and solely within the control and discretion of each repair shop.ATSG also administers a warranty membership program called the ATSG ADVANTAGE WARRANTYPROGRAM. ATSG acts as a clearinghouse/referralservice for its members. Those participating in the ADVANTAGE WARRANTY PROGRAM, in effect, "guarantee" each other's work by agreeing to correct any defects in workmanship and materials in correction with work done at another participating shop (the "originating" shop.) The shop which corrects the defects (the "repairing" shop) looks to the originating shop, rather than the customer, for payment. For instance, if shop A repairs a transmission in New York and the Customer has a problem with the transmission in Florida, the customer is referred to shop B in Florida. Shop B performs the repair and shop A pays shop B for the work.ATSG does not have any contractual business relationship with its member shops customers. ATSG merelyallows its ATSG ADVANTAGE WARRANTY PROGRAM members to use its logo on the warranty formsand repair invoices. The warranty form indicates that it is printed by ATSG, and the warranty states that theshop who issues it is the warrantor not ATSG. ATSG is not responsible for misrepresentations made byshops as to their membership status with ATSG and/or as participants in the ATSG ADVANTAGEWARRANTY PROGRAM.ATSG is not engaged in transmission repair service. ATSG does not inspect shops to see that they meetcertain standards, nor does ATSG certify the work of any shop. ATSG is not the warrantor of workperformed, nor is ATSG listed as such on the warranty forms it provides. It does not establish, mandate ormonitor standards for member shops' repair practices and procedures. It does not have the power or authority to prevent a shop from performing a certain type of repair or performing a repair in a certain way.ATSG does not develop or promulgate safety measures. It does not warn the public or industry as topotential hazards resulting from a faulty or defective transmission repair. It does not interface with theconsuming public. Please call us at (800) 245-7722 if you have any questions.ADVANTAGE WARRANTYGUIDLINESAutomatic Transmission Service Group2
